What is a Greek Organization?A Greek organization is a group of individuals with similar interests that are bonded together by common goals and aspirations. It is referred to as a Greek organization because the name of the organization consists of Greek letters.

Why Greek Life? There are many different benefits of Greek life that can enrich your life socially, culturally, AND professionally! Greek life enables you to be part of a close-knit community that reaches far past Stevens Institute of Technology and provides you with another family for life. The opportunities to network, take on leadership roles, develop social skills, and create priceless memories are limitless.
-

-
Does Sigma Psi Zeta haze? No. Absolutely not. Sigma Psi Zeta has a strict non-hazing policy and hazing would also be in violation of many university policies. Our organization's national philanthropy is to combat violence against womxn and hazing would directly contradict this effort.
-

-

We are so excited to meet you, and we have many fun activities planned in order to get to know you better! We aim to empower womxn, both within and external to our sorority, and help us all strive to be stronger, more independent leaders. We hope we don't intimidate you, as we always try our best to be inviting and open about ourselves and our organization. Feel free to bring a friend to any of our events, or even reach out personally to any of our syzters!
-
Is Sigma Psi Zeta Asian-exclusive?No, Sigma Psi Zeta is a progressive, multicultural Greek organization and everyone is welcome! Many of our syzterships across the nation include syzters from a diverse range of racial and ethnic backgrounds who all agree with the core values of our syzterhood.
-
Who is allowed to join?Anyone who identifies as a womxn. Even if you were not born female, if you identify as a womxn when you decide to join, you are welcome to this sorority!
-
What is a "typical" Sigma syzter?"There is no “typical” Sigma syzter. Syzterhood is not a mold for womxn to fit into. Nor does it make each syzter who they are. Each syzter contributes their talent, idealism, devotion and energies to the greater organization, giving our syzterhood the character it has today. We hope that each syzter will change our syzterhood, helping it to grow and evolve.
-

How much does it cost? Both the chapter (on the local level) and the national office collect dues and membership fees from every member. Most groups have a one-time new member and initiation fee plus reoccurring dues on a semester-by-semester basis. The majority of the dues collected is used to pay for national insurance, while the remainder is to cover operating expenses.
-

-
What does being an active member look like?Once you become an active member, you attend weekly chapter meetings and you usually hold a position, whether that is on our Executive Board, Board of Officers, or a Committee. Active members are the core of our chapter and they are the ones who fully plan and run our events. Being an active member is fun, exciting, and there is a lot of growth and bonding with our members!
-
How will joining affect my GPA?We make academic success a priority for our members. We monitor GPAs both locally and nationally to ensure that members focus on their main goal of pursuing higher education: to learn. We have many members that consistently make their university’s Dean’s lists/honor rolls and whom also obtain their highest GPAs as members of Sigma Psi Zeta.
