As a multicultural organization with roots in advocacy, we are committed to celebrating the diversity and individuality of our membership. When selecting members, we offer opportunities to all regardless of race, gender identity, color, national origin, religion, marital status, citizenship, sexual orientation, or disability. Because of this, we are SYZters first, not CIS-ters/sisters. We continue to make our legacy known by uplifting and acknowledging each others’ identities and creating a safe and empowering space for those who are marginalized. As we use the term “womxn” or “SYZters”, we hope to create a space for transgender, genderfluid, genderqueer, gender non-conforming, or non-binary identities. Our membership hopes to continue self-education and awareness of others’ traditions and cultures, understanding the power of language and spelling. We hope to acknowledge the struggles, identities, and intersectionalities of what it means to not only be born as a womxn, but to identify as a womxn.
